The Lady of Korczew

Beata Ostrowska-Harris is the heir to what used to be a great fortune. She leaves Poland with her parents as a child during the war, only to return home 50 years later together with her English family. She gradually gathers together the remnants of the estate: the ruined palace, overgrown park, old farm buildings and the stolen letters of the poet Norwid to her great-grandmother Joanna Kuczyńska, to whom he dedicated the poem „To the Lady of Korczew”. This is a story about strength of character. The protagonist tries to save the memory of her family and build its identity and future in the difficult conditions of post-communist Poland.
