The Lady of Korczew

2018. Documentary, 57 minutes, dir. Sławomir Rogowski, prod. Iwona Harris, DOP Kacper Lisowski

Beata Ostrowska-Harris is the heir to what used to be a great fortune. She leaves Poland with her parents as a child during the war, only to return home 50 years later together with her English family. She gradually gathers together the remnants of the estate: the ruined palace, overgrown park, old farm buildings and the stolen letters of the poet Norwid to her greatgrandmother Joanna Kuczyńska, to whom he dedicated the poem „To the Lady of Korczew”. This is a story about strength of character. The protagonist tries to save the memory of her family and build its identity and future in the difficult conditions of post-communist Poland.
